Open-Up Studios

Open-Up is an annual city-wide event, held during May, and is a chance for artists and makers

to open their studios to members of the public, and a chance for members of the public to meet

the artists and find out more about their processes and inspirations. Several of our members did just that, and opened their studios, but for some of us that just wasn’t practical, so we

opened up the Butcher Works Gallery with many of our members giving demonstrations.

We had a great response from visitors and customers in the shop and gallery, giving a boost to

sales and giving customers a chance to meet the makers and learn more about their crafts.

Open Up Studios did a great job advertising the event, and our members used their social

media channels to mobilise their followings, leading to lots of new visitors to the shop and

gallery and helping to raise our profile as a creative hot-spot.
